PATRICK WILSON (Drums)
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Patrick began his career at 16 playing standards like Misty and Satin Doll, with the Thomas Ellis Quartet. The Quartet was a regular at the N.C.O. clubs on several of the military bases located there. In the late 70's he moved to Austin, Texas and was fortunate to see and be influenced by a music scene that was becoming one of the hottest in the country. On any given night you might have the opportunity to see Willie Nelson at one end of the block and a young guitarist named Stevie Ray Vaughan at the other end.

Since coming to Minnesota, Patrick has played with several local bands including the Terraplane Blues Band, which made its radio debut on KSTP FM in September 1996.

In late 2000 Patrick formed Box Of Soul, an eight-piece classic soul band that enjoyed 2 1/2 successful years playing in the Twin Cities. In joining Big Walter Smith and the Groove Merchants, Patrick says he's getting the chance to not only play with a legend like Walter, but also to return to his blues roots.
